40th Annual Fall Tennessee Craft Fair: Continuing the Hand Crafted Tradition

From Laurie Davis, TN Craft –

Even as the Nashville skyline reinvents itself, the Tennessee Craft Fairs remain a steadfast, timeless tradition. Excite your senses with American handmade fine craft from juried and award-winning artists nationwide. Experience the 40th Annual Fall Tennessee Craft Fair during Tennessee Craft Week on the front lawn of Centennial Park October 12, 13, and 14.

Attracting 50,000 visitors each fair, Tennessee Craft Fairs are preeminent shows that showcase more than 200 craft artists with national and regional reputations. Making a personal connection with the makers while shopping for that one-of-a-kind treasure is one of the benefits of purchasing unique, handmade products. Learn what inspires each artist as they take raw materials like clay, wood, metal and glass and transform them into fine craft. Support the local craft economy and engage in a community experience like no other!

In addition to offering the best of fine craft made by top craft professionals, Tennessee Craft Fairs cultivate emerging craft artists. Explore work by up-and-coming makers in the Emerging Makers Tent, and visit the Kids’ Tent, where children have a space to create “hands-on” craft similar to exhibiting artists. On Friday, bring the kids to add their handprints to a collaborative “quilt” display inspired by the Frist Art Museum’s exhibition “We Shall Overcome;” on Saturday, experience a Musical Petting Zoo and play a banjo, autoharp and more with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum; and on Sunday, participate in a mixed media cultural art activity inspired by Latin American folk art with Conexión Américas. The Nashville Public Library Puppet Truck will perform Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The Fall Tennessee Craft Fair will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., CST. As always, this event is free and open to the public with free parking and a free shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday. Shuttle will run in 15-minute loops from the HCA Parking Lots located on Park Plaza to the Tennessee Craft Fair. All guests are encouraged to use this free service that is generously provided by Gray Line Tours.
