The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu paid Tennessee a visit in August. It was an honor to host her in Nashville and show her some of the state’s vibrant arts and cultural institutions.

Chairman Jane Chu has been traveling across the country over the past two years, meeting with artists, arts leaders and communities to see first-hand how the arts are impacting people and places. Along the way, she has been creating art of her own, sketching various things she has seen in her travels to, as she puts it, “uncover the beauty in seemingly ordinary objects, and help us discover and celebrate the assets within ourselves and within our communities.”

Recently we received a personal sketch she created of the Schermerhorn Symphony Center and we wanted to share it. The Commission would like to extend a warm thank you to Chairman Chu for remembering her visit in such a fitting and thoughtful manner.  To see Chairman Chu’s art from around the country, click here.
