Timothy Wiegenstein is an artist and educator. Wiegenstein believes his artistic roots stem from his rural beginnings, working with children and adults in various capacities. As a Teaching Artist for the Tennessee Arts Commission, Wiegenstein is helping Adult learners connect to their own creative roots and interests. Wiegenstein primarily works in watercolor, collage and Artist Trading Cards. His Etsy shop describes him as an artist, educator, and collector of odd materials and shiny objects. He has been creating artwork in a variety of mediums for over 30 years. A member of the Tennessee Artists Association, Wiegenstein serves as Publicity Chair.

Program Description:
Artist Trading Cards, commonly referred to as ATCs, are a niche art form, attracting individuals from a variety of mediums and skill levels. ATCs are meant to be traded or given away, and appeal to youngsters and older adults alike. ATCs can be presented in a one hour workshop or in a one hour format over 8 weeks in order to facilitate both the sequential development of skills and increased social engagement for participants.

In collage, I provide the basic materials and tools for participants to be able to complete a finished collage in a single session. Participants will be introduced to the medium of collage, an overview of the techniques, history and present-day examples. During the activity portion of the session, participants will explore their vision / goal for the class, find and select design elements / materials, and complete a basic collage as a culmination of the session.

In watercolor, I will work with the sponsoring organization to provide materials, paper, brushes, etc. for participants to use. Watercolor can be a one-day, eight hour workshop or an eight week, one hour class in order to facilitate both the sequential development of skills and increased social engagement for participants.
