Focusing on the universal concept of natural rhythms in our everyday lives, Matt leads participants in a variety of percussion/music-based activities.

He has facilitated over 800 of these programs fro older adults since 2012.
Matt’s programs, are informed by his years of experience in the field of Creative Aging, his love for musical communication and his passion for serving others – along with earning a B.A. in Human Services/Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College.

Additionally, with performing hundreds of live shows as a drummer, percussionist and songwriter in various projects, Matt brings a breadth of experience and various perspectives.

Program Title: Improvisation in Rhythm Workshop

This hand drumming and percussion workshop invites older adults to explore rhythm together in a fun, accessible, and deeply social setting — no musical experience required. Using hand drums, shakers, and simple rhythmic patterns, participants build skills gradually, from basic tones and steady pulse work to call-and-response, group patterns, and full ensemble playing. Sessions are fully adaptable for seated participants, limited mobility, or varying stamina levels, so everyone can take part at their own pace. Beyond the joy of making music together, the workshop is designed to spark genuine connection, support mood and focus, and build confidence session by session. It’s a great fit for senior living and continuing care communities, memory care and adult day programs, community and senior centers, rehabilitation and wellness programs, or any group looking to bring people together through a shared, hands-on activity.

Program Title: Creative Movement: Yoga & Drumming (Matt & Sammi)

Rhythm & Connection is a six-week hand drum program designed for older adults, built to bring people together through the simple, joyful power of rhythm -no musical experience required.

Over six weekly sessions of 45 to 60 minutes, small groups of 6 to 15 participants progress from basic drum tones and steady pulse work through call-and-response, pattern-building, and full ensemble playing, culminating in a group celebration performance. The program is fully adaptable for seated participants, limited mobility, or varying stamina levels, and all equipment is provided.

Beyond the fun of making music together, the program is designed to build genuine social connection, support mood and focus, and offer a meaningful sense of accomplishment session by session. It’s a strong fit for senior living and continuing care communities, memory care and adult day programs, community and senior centers, rehabilitation and wellness centers, or any group looking to bring people together through shared, hands-on activity.

Blending Adapted Yoga and Hand Drumming for Expression and Freedom

Length: 60–75 minutes Group size: 6–15 participants Format: Seated or standing-with-support options throughout – fully adaptable Equipment: Hand drums, shakers, or tambourines; chairs with arms for support; optional yoga mats for those who wish to move to the floor

Core idea: Rhythm gives the body permission to move; adapted yoga gives that movement shape, breath, and grounding. Together, they invite participants to explore expression and freedom in their bodies – not performance or “getting it right.”
