Aspen, Johns Hopkins Initiative Launches Third Neuroarts Research Awards
From International Arts + Mind Lab –
The NeuroArts Blueprint Initiative, a joint effort between the Aspen Institute and Johns Hopkins University, is now accepting applications for the third annual Renée Fleming Neuroarts Investigator Awards. The program aims to advance the emerging field of neuroarts by providing seed funding and mentorship to early-career scholars and arts practitioners.
Neuroarts is an interdisciplinary field rooted in science that studies how the arts and aesthetic experiences influence the brain, body, and behavior to improve health and well-being.
Interdisciplinary teams are invited to apply for grants up to $25,000 to support innovative research that addresses key gaps in the field. Proposals must be submitted by Feb. 3, 2026, and award decisions will be announced on April 15, 2026.
“I am so excited to invite a new group of researchers and artists to propose collaborations in this amazing field,” said Renée Fleming, acclaimed soprano, NeuroArts Blueprint co-chair, and World Health Organization Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health. “Seeing the level of innovation we have supported so far… I know we are moving the needle in our understanding of the power of the arts and aesthetic experiences for health.”
The awards program, established and supported by the Renée Fleming Foundation, is crucial for developing a new generation of professionals and generating evidence-based practices, aligning with recommendations from the 2021 report, The NeuroArts Blueprint: Advancing the Science of Arts, Health, and Wellbeing.
