Patsy Camp, former Tennessee Arts Commission chair and advocate, Remembered
By Tennessee Arts Commission –

Patsy Camp, a former chair of the Tennessee Arts Commission and a passionate advocate for the arts in Jackson and across the state, passed away on Sept. 2 after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Jackson, Camp was a pivotal figure in Tennessee’s cultural landscape. She served as a member of the Tennessee Arts Commission before being appointed its chair, where she was known for her enthusiastic and deeply involved leadership.
During her tenure as chair, Camp oversaw the release of the commission’s five-year strategic plan, the 2015 statewide arts conference and the Governor’s Arts Awards. Anne B. Pope, Executive Director of the Tennessee Arts Commission, noted that Camp, an artist herself with a degree in art and interior design from Lambuth College, “truly embraced and championed the arts in Tennessee” and was “one of the most involved chairs of the Commission I have ever known. A true friend to us all, Patsy will be greatly missed.”
Camp’s dedication to service extended throughout her community, where she was active in numerous organizations.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chuck Camp, and her daughter, Charissa Camp.
The family requested memorials be directed to the Jackson Arts Council or First United Methodist Church.
