Marta Beatriz is an independent visual artist from West Tennessee, Therapeutic Art Coach, and mental health advocate. Drawing from her lived experience, she uses art to promote healing, recovery, and stigma reduction while encouraging others to embrace creativity and recognize strengths beyond diagnosis. Marta was named Tennessee CPRS Mentor of the Year in 2025 and received the Louetta Hix Memorial Artist of Distinction Award in 2023. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout Tennessee, including the Frist Art Museum, Dixon Gallery & Gardens, Ned McWherter Cultural Arts Center, The Catbird Studios, and the Cordova Library.

Her partnership with the Tennessee Arts Commission began in 2022 when she was selected as one of only 26 artists and art organizations statewide to participate in the Creative Aging Tennessee II training program. Since then, she has remained actively involved with Lifetime Arts, dedicating her work to enriching the lives of older adults through high-quality arts education and creative engagement.

Program Title: Arts for Healing

Program Type:

Program Description:

Art has been part of my life and is a skill I use as a form of nourishment and self-care. Creating arts for healing is my passion. I offer the participants a fully engage experience which starts with a question to ponder. Then participants are asked to work individually on each project. Each participant uses either “watercolors, acrylics or crafts” to finish each project. After the individual work is done then there is a group discussion which immediately connects participants not only with their inner self but to each other. Each participant is asked to share with their partners or groups what was their experience while doing the exercise. Each individual share their experiences to form connections among them
