Ian Kirkpatrick is a clogger and folk ballad singer based in Knoxville, TN. He holds an MA in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University and an MSIS from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2021, Kirkpatrick received the South Arts Emerging Traditional Artist award in recognition of his work with mentors Sheila Kay Adams, Carmen McCord Hicks, and the late Bobby McMillon. His work with Creative Aging includes projects such as the Singing Circle and the Story Circle, where participants share works of art they enjoy and create new works using techniques introduced throughout each course. Ian believes everyone can sing, dance, and tell stories regardless of skill level.
