Cheatham County School officials are considering whether to turn Pegram Elementary into a fine arts institution in hopes of boosting its enrollment.
Director of Schools Cathy Beck said the school board wouldn’t see a detailed plan until about January. If approved, Pegram Elementary would become a fine-arts magnet school beginning in the 2019-20 academic year.
Currently, 185 students are enrolled there. Officials estimate that, though it would be “tight,” the full capacity could reach around 340, and Beck noted there isn’t as much growth in the southern part of Cheatham County.
