You Know What They Say About ‘Best Laid Plans’
By James Wells, Director of Accessibility –
Dear Friends,
I have had the pleasure of serving at the Tennessee Arts Commission as the Arts Education Special Projects Coordinator for a year and a half, and recently transitioned to a new role as Arts Access Director. I was so excited about this new direction and ready to contribute to the field in a meaningful way.
However, life can sometimes present opportunities and difficult decisions. Recently, I was offered a position in my hometown of Memphis as the Shelby County Schools Fine Arts Instructional Advisor—and a chance to work with arts educators in Tennessee’s largest school district.
I’ve truly valued my experience at the TN Arts Commission, but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to return home with my young family.
I look forward to cultivating the arts and arts education in Shelby County and Tennessee for years to come. So, this is not goodbye, but a “see you around.
