Traditional Arts Touring Grants Applications Due Nov. 1

From South Arts –

Grants of up to $5,000 are available to engage a traditional artist/ensemble for multi-day residencies in Southern communities.

The South is home to an abundance of traditional art forms whether they are indigenous to the region or reflect the traditions of recent immigrant communities. They are usually maintained without formal instruction or academic training. Some traditional arts have a deep-rooted history with little change, while others are constantly evolving and adapting to their changing environment.

Traditional Arts Touring Grants aim to increase the public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the traditional arts in the South by bringing artists together in Southern communities. Grants of up to $5,000 are available for organizations in South Arts’ nine-state primary region (AL, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN) to engage a traditional artist/ensemble for multi-day residencies in their community.

Applications are due November 1, 2021.

COVID-19 Update: Due to COVID-19, South Arts recognizes that in-person activities might not be possible. Applications for virtual presentations and educational activities as well as in-person activities will be accepted.
