Three Weeks Until Collective Impact

Collective ImpactThe TN Arts Commission office is starting to fill with conference supplies. We have already received invaluable assistance from numerous people, and the conference planning team would like to extend our gratitude. Thank you to Jennifer Moody, Assistant City Manager and her team at the City of Murfreesboro, Pam Williams, Cultural Arts Program Coordinator and her team at Cultural Arts Murfreesboro, Principal Jenny Ortiz and Bradley Academy, Barbara Wolke and her team at the Rutherford Convention and Visitors Bureau, Main Street Murfreesboro, Discovery Center, Center for the Arts and Boro Art Crawl — your assistance and support is very much appreciated.

We are just three weeks away, and the Special Opportunities Grant has been closed. Congratulations to the awardees who received funding. Registration will continue to be open, and we are well on the way to reaching our goal number of 300 attendees. Held hotel rooms and MTSU dorm rooms will be released on May 25, so please do not delay in booking your accommodations. 

Meet more of our presenters: 

Jeff Poulin

Jeff Poulin, Arts Education Program Manager for Americans for the Arts (AFTA) will be joining the conference to present during the Arts Education Policy Convening June 8 on the Every Child Succeeds Act. Poulin works to empower local, state and federal supporters of arts education to become effective advocates to advance policies supportive of equitable access to arts education for all students. In his role at AFTA, Poulin has trained over 10,000 advocates in all 50 states.  He was also been instrumental in the publication of the 2014 National Core Arts Standards, a leader in the creative youth development movement and a founding board member of the Innovation Collaborative.

Dr Dru DavisonDr. Dru Davison will also share an update on Rewriting the Fine Arts Curriculum Standards during the Arts Education Policy Convening. Dr. Davison is an arts administrator for Shelby County Schools and currently serves as the Fine Arts State Standards Revision Committee Project Chair for the Tennessee State Board of Education. His other positions and appointments include chair of the National Association for Music Education’s Council of Music Program Leaders and a revision team member for the National Opportunity to Learn Standards for Music Education.
