Folklife Website is Live and Ready to be Explored

By Dr. Bradley A. Hanson, Folklife Program Director –

folklifehomeThe Tennessee Arts Commission Folklife Program is proud to announce the launch of tnfolklife.org. The new website features original content and resources related to ongoing Folklife Program initiatives, and also includes updated material from our previous page. Under construction for the past six months, tnfolklife.org is built on the user-friendly and responsive Word Press platform. Our aim is to develop the site into an unmatched online space devoted to Tennessee’s folklife, folk arts, and traditional culture.

The homepage displays several important program elements, including folklife grant opportunities, a quick link to the Latino Traditions in East Tennessee project, a slideshow of images from our archive, and the latest news. The navigation bar at the top of the page easily directs to detailed information about our state’s honored folk artists, folklife teaching tools, and many special program exhibits, projects, and publications.

The resource tab points students and enthusiasts to content exploring the extensive infrastructure of folklife organizations, events, and sites in Tennessee. An annotated bibliography of folklife-related publications is also provided and will be frequently updated. Contact Dr. Dana Everts-Boehm, Folklife Program Assistant, or myself if you would like to submit content for consideration or have questions about the website.

We invite you to learn about our state’s cultural heritage and look forward to sharing the breadth and richness of Tennessee folklife on this new website.
