Every other year the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) holds a national assembly, and all state arts agency staff and council members are invited to attend. The event offers opportunities for arts agency staff to meet their peers from around the country, gain skills and insights from learning sessions designed for public arts funders, and experience world-class artistic offerings.

NASAA is the membership organization that unites, represents and serves the nation’s state and jurisdictional arts agencies. Each of the 56 states and jurisdictions have created an agency to support excellence in and access to the arts. NASAA’s mission is to strengthen state arts agencies.

This year the assembly is being held in Grand Rapids, Michigan from September 14-17 and is hosted by the Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs. National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Chu along with National Council on the Arts member Aaron P. Dworkin will present on Friday, September 16 on American Creativity. There is a live webcast available to anyone who wants to watch.

TN Arts Commission Executive Director Anne B. Pope, Commission Board Chair Lisa Bobango, and NEA Board Member and Commission Board Member Stephanie Conner will be attending the assembly along with several Commission program directors. We will post be reporting back on the assembly next week.
