The Tennessee Arts Commission seeks a full-time Arts Education Projects Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Arts Education Director, this position works toward the full realization of the arts as vital to education and learning in Tennessee. Specifically, the position organizes training and other arts education events for educators, artists and nonprofit staff and assists with grants making to schools, organizations, and individuals. - Facilitates arts education events such as the Poetry Out Loud State Contest and the statewide arts education conference
- Provides technical assistance to groups, artists, and schools developing arts programs and projects including management of the Teaching Artist Roster
- Assists in the development and administration of state and federal grants to arts organizations, non-arts organizations, individuals, and group artists producing arts projects such as Student Ticket Subsidy
- Serves as a resource for arts disciplines that may include: dance, music, opera, theater, visual arts, craft, design arts, photography, media arts, literature, and folklife/traditional arts
- Prepares records and reports
- Generates public support for the arts and arts education
- Represents the Commission at local, state, regional, and national meetings
- Acts creatively as part of the Arts Commission team to identify and implement strategies to further the opportunities of Tennessee citizens to participate in the arts
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Bachelor’s Degree and three years’ experience in arts education, arts administration, education, and/or nonprofit management. A background in arts education is desired.
- Understands arts education policy and trends including state and national curriculum standards, arts integration, and professional development for teachers and teaching artists
- Ability to work independently and carry projects through to successful completion
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Events management experience preferred
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Grants management and budget experience desired
- Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and available for frequent travel
- Knowledge and ability to utilize office equipment and computer software including Microsoft Office.
- Salary based on experience. First step of range: $38,460
- Works in non-smoking state office in downtown Nashville
