Students Work with Teaching Artist to Create Art Installation for Visit Knoxville

From Bailey Earith, Bailey Fiber Art Studio —

Mixed media fiber artist, Bailey Earith, worked with a group of special education high school and college students on a three week art internship program. These art majors learned how to work as a team to create a corporate art installation for Visit Knoxville. Students created the artwork at Bailey Fiber Art Studio in Farragut, TN under the direction of Earith. The work was then installed in Visit Knoxville’s office and unveiled on Wednesday, Dec. 16. The finished work will be displayed temporarily in March at the Legislative Plaza in Nashville. Afterwards, the art piece will return to Visit Knoxville for the enjoyment of visitors and staff.

This project is sponsored by VSA TN, which provides accessible art opportunities to students with disabilities, through a grant from TN Arts Commission. Students with special needs furthered their education by exploring new art forms and learning what’s involved with creating a commissioned art piece for a client.IMG_0893
