Special Opportunities: Arts Forward Grant Now Open

The Tennessee Arts Commission is excited to announce that applications for its new Special Opportunities: Arts Forward grants will open on October 15. These grants are designed to strengthen Tennessee’s arts sector and support unique opportunities statewide. This year’s program also includes funding to support participation in the 2026 South & Appalachian Creative Placemaking Summit in Memphis, April 21–24, 2026.

Nonprofit arts organizations and entities of local government may apply for up to $5,000 to support a wide range of projects that boost organizational strength, community engagement, and artistic value. Examples include short-term consultations or technical assistance, small equipment purchases, community workshops or arts participation projects, and engaging touring artists for performances and/or educational activities. In addition, funding is available for America 250 projects that commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary through the arts.

Arts Forward grants may also be used to support participation in the 2026 South & Appalachian Creative Placemaking Summit. Individuals may apply for up to $1,000, and organizations sending at least two representatives may apply for up to $2,000 to help cover registration fees, travel expenses, stipends, and lodging for this national convening on arts, culture, and community development.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until depleted.
