Lehman, a painter and art organizer, was known for her painted floral subjects. She studied at the Mississippi State College for Women (now, Mississippi University for Women), and at George Washington University, Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. and at Columbia University Teacher’s College in New York where she received a Bachelor of Science. Lehman was instrumental in organizing the first gallery showing at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Her work was exhibited at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art in AL, Mississippi State College for Women, the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
