Egg Car, 1977
sterling silver, 3 x 2.9 x 2.375 x 2.5 inches, 77.36.41
This object is a hand-sized egg shaped hot rod with seven wires over the windshield which is surrounded by an applied curved string-like line. This line is heaped around the nose and goes to the belly, nearly to the central seam. The back portion has a pig like curly tail, and from the tail radiate four smooth arms of varying lengths. There are three crimped and curved exhaust pipes high on each side. Four wheels are on an axle and rotate. The rest of the body of the car is covered, except for the underneath with globules of varying sizes. While whimsical in design, cars have been created in egg-like forms for many years.
