Nashville will host the League of American Orchestras National Conference June 3-5, 2019. This annual gathering offers a unique opportunity to continue exploring how the League can help orchestras adapt and grow together in a rapidly changing world. As it convenes in the world’s celebrated Music City, it will place communities, music and musicians at the center of the conversation. It will continue to identify ways to redefine excellence, recognizing that orchestras can only thrive when they are committed to representing the full breadth and richness of the communities they serve. Join the League for three days dedicated to fostering innovation, inspiration, conversation, and—most of all—action.

Tennessee nonprofit arts organizations with missions supporting orchestral music-making are eligible to apply for a Special Opportunities grant for up to $1,500 to offset the costs of registration fees and accommodations. At this time, only organizations may apply for funding.

For the purposes of this specific opportunity, Special Opportunities grants will be considered Professional Development, and as such hotel accommodations up to $179.00/night (excluding tax) for the purpose of attending the summit will be an eligible expense. All Special Opportunities awardees must be prepared to handle all necessary expenditures up front. Commission funds will be paid as reimbursement to the awardees upon submission and approval of a grant evaluation and appropriate documentation including receipts. No Commission funds are available prior to the Special Opportunities activity.

If awarded a special opportunities grant, the affiliated grant contract must be fully executed prior to the beginning date of the activity. New awardees should immediately submit a signed IRS W-9 to Vickie.mcpherson@tn.gov. Organizations who haven’t already submitted Title VI certification verification should do so.

In order to receive funding, recipients must submit the grant evaluation after June 5, but before June 15, 2019. This opportunity will be awarded on a first come, first served basis, based upon accurately completed submissions.  You or your organization must be registered in our new online grant system to apply. Registrations can take up to 2 business days to be approved.
