Nashville choreographer Amanda Reichert Awarded FY26 IAF in Dance
By Jared Morrison, Director of Performing Arts –

The Tennessee Arts Commission has awarded Amanda Reichert its fiscal year 2026 Individual Artist Fellowship in Dance.
A choreographer, performer and educator based in Nashville, Reichert is known for creating work that blends imagination, theatricality and physical intensity.
Her fellowship-winning submissions, “I need to remember” and “Galaxy Cut,” reflect the breadth of her artistic vision. “I need to remember” traces a stream of consciousness on memory and time, as one performer navigates shifting recollections sparked by a rediscovered piece of clothing. In “Galaxy Cut,” Reichert collaborated with Garage Collective to fuse original music, spoken word and movement with cinematic projection, transporting audiences into a dreamlike landscape. One adjudicator described the work as “brave … with the courage of its convictions” and praised her ability to connect performance and stagecraft with the “inner human life” of the viewer.
Since moving to Nashville in 2019, Reichert has become an active presence in the independent dance community. She has partnered with artists including Sarah Salim, Garage Collective and PYDANCE, while also co-producing Animata Arts, a platform for freelance artists to develop and present new work. Her choreography and performance have been presented at the Kindling Arts Festival, OZ Arts Nashville, Centennial Performing Arts Studios, COOP Gallery, and internationally at Festival Nómada in El Salvador and the b12 Festival in Berlin.
