Make Music Day: Tennessee Outreach
From Make Music Alliance –
Make Music Alliance would like to extend an invitation for your community to participate in Make Music Day—a global celebration of music held annually on June 21, which also happens to be the longest day of the year. The goal is simple but powerful: to fill every corner of participating cities with free, live music—on street corners, in parks, on rooftops, in gardens, and storefronts.
This event began decades ago in France (where it’s called the Fête de la Musique); in recent years, 150 cities around the U.S. have signed on to create their own “Make Music” celebrations, each with hundreds of free outdoor concerts on June 21, open to all who want to sign up and perform. The Make Music Alliance is a nonprofit membership organization that helps new cities get on board and provides online registration and promotional tools, and access to national partners.
For 2026, the Make Music Alliance is inviting communities across the state to join this initiative. Additionally, the Tennessee Entertainment Commission has agreed to sponsor the first 29 cities that opt into hosting the event in their areas. If you’re interested in learning how your city can get involved, please contact Matt Fox at matt@makemusicday.org.
