Join Arts Advocates In Washington For Arts Advocacy Day

By Rodney Van Valkenburg, Director of Grants and Initiatives, ArtsBuild

Join arts advocates from across the country on March 20-21, 2017 in Washington, DC for the 30th annual National Arts Action Summit.

On Monday, March 20, 2017, arts advocates will convene for interactive advocacy training and peer-to-peer learning and networking. That evening, attendees will attend the Nancy Hanks Lecture on Arts & Public Policy at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Then, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, after the Congressional Arts Kick Off, advocates will meet with their congressional representatives to share their stories about the impact and transformative power that the arts have in their communities.

WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND ARTS ADVOCACY DAY IN 2017?

At Arts Advocacy Day, you get three things you can’t get anywhere else.

  • Networking with your fellow arts advocates from across the country and go on congressional visits led by State Captains.
  • Learning the latest research facts and figures on the arts to help make your case.
  • Strategizing with experienced advocates during an interactive role play session on how to make the case for the arts and arts education to your members of Congress.

I am the Tennessee State Captain for Arts Advocacy Day and will be arranging visits to Tennessee US Representatives and Senators. Please contact me with questions: (423) 777-4214.
