Cross-Sector Strategies for Civic Infrastructure and Community Cohesion
From National Endowment for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies-
The National Endowment for the Arts and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) created a sampler document, Cross-Sector Strategies for Civic Infrastructure and Community Cohesion, showcasing successful programs and policies from seven state arts agencies that are investing in the strength and well-being of their communities.
This document highlights innovative partnerships and strategies that demonstrate how the arts can contribute to:
- Building stronger communities: By supporting the development of physical spaces and social processes that foster interaction, collaboration, and civic engagement.
- Addressing community challenges: By leveraging the power of creativity to solve complex issues and improve quality of life for all residents.
What is Civic Infrastructure?
Civic infrastructure encompasses both the physical places (like parks, community centers, and public art spaces) and the social processes (like festivals, volunteer networks, and community dialogues) that contribute to a thriving community.
This Strategy Sampler is part of a series that aims to share best practices and inspire innovation among state arts agencies and regional arts organizations. By learning from these successful examples, we can all work together to:
- Proliferate impactful programs: That utilize the arts to address critical community needs.
- Refine our own work: To ensure that our efforts are effective, sustainable, and responsive to the unique needs of our communities.
