Cultural Heritage Walking Trail

Arts in McNairy utilized their Creative Placemaking grant to create the Cultural Heritage Walking Trail, a .8 mile walking trail in downtown Selmer connecting existing cultural and community assets. The trail features markers designed by artists commemorating members of the McNairy County Music Hall of Fame, as well as a mobile app to augment visitors’ experiences.

A black sign with a guitar graphic reads “McNairy County’s Trail of Music Legends EST. 2017” in white lettering, surrounded by a border with stars, set in a landscaped area with mulch and plants.

A metal sign shaped like sheet music and piano keys is installed in the ground next to grass and a sidewalk. A yellow sign above reads, “TRAILHEAD AT 205 W COURT AVE · DOWNLOAD THE APP FOR APPLE OR ANDROID.”.

An outdoor informational sign highlights musicians Dee Fisk Martin, Earnest Pap Whitten, Kay Bain, and Danny Churchwell. It includes photos, brief biographies, and details about their contributions to music.

A yellow informational sign titled McNairy Countys Trail of Music Legends, providing details about the local music legends project, its history, a mobile app, and partnering organizations in McNairy County, Tennessee.
