Krishna Adams

Director of Visual Arts, Craft, Media, and Design

Krishna Adams joined the Tennessee Arts Commission in December 2014 as Director of Visual Arts, Craft, Media, and Design. In this role, she oversees the administration of a wide range of grants supporting nonprofit organizations and visual artists across Tennessee. She also curates dynamic and thought-provoking exhibitions in the Commission’s Gallery, showcasing accomplished artists from the state’s three Grand Divisions.

Prior to joining the Commission, Adams spent 17 years at the Knoxville Museum of Art, where she held multiple positions and built strong relationships with artists, educators, and museum professionals at the local, regional, and national levels. Her experience encompasses curatorial practice, program development, education, and arts administration.

Adams holds a Master of Science in Information Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Middle Tennessee State University. With her extensive background in the visual arts, she continues to advance the Commission’s mission by producing innovative and engaging exhibitions while also expanding access to grant opportunities for artists and organizations throughout the state.
