Primarily using acrylic and epoxy over thick layers of gesso, wood and found objects, Cannon creates works that are colorful and texturally rich. His work is in the collections of the Mennello Museum of American Folk Art in Orlando, Florida; the Rita and John Lowndes Shakespeare Theatre, The Disney Collection, Cadillac Corporate, House of Blues, The City of Orlando, The City of Chattanooga, as well as the State of Tennessee.
The creative process for me is inspiration, intuition, and improvisation. An image comes to me, and I allow creativity to flow through me. I share the belief of many artists that I am merely the vessel. The colors, textures, and images in my work are a constant source of surprise and wonder to me. I would say that the main statement I wish to convey through my art is that life is a magnificent gift, and I am so very grateful to be a participant. – Cannon
