Maritza Davila

Davila studied at the University of Puerto Rico from 1970–74 where she graduated with her B.A. in art education, printmaking and painting. She also earned her M.F.A. in painting and printmaking from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 1977. She left New York to travel with her husband to Memphis where she has taught printmaking at the Memphis College of Art since 1982 while also running a private art press. She has numerous awards, and her work is collected and exhibited extensively, including solo shows in New York, Maine, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, Mississippi, North Carolina and Virginia. She’s had collective exhibitions throughout the United States and in Germany, Poland, Finland, France, Norway, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.
