Nuell received a B.S. from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an M.F.A. at the University of Georgia. She retired as Professor Emeritus from the Department of Art at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). For 31 years, Nuell taught printmaking and design at MTSU and exhibited her work in over 100 shows. Her work can be found in the collections of the Music City Center, the Tennessee Arts Commission, and Metro International Airport Authority in Nashville, the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, the Greenville County Museum of Art in SC, The Boston Printmakers in MA, the Naples Library in NY and others.
The way that I can use multiple layers of visual information and make each one visible or invisible gives me the ability to try many different versions of an image before I make my final decision. If I didn’t have this freedom, I wouldn’t be doing art. –Nuell
