Folk & Traditional Arts Master Artist Fellowships

Apply for $9,000 to pursue life-long learning opportunities

Open to folk and traditional artists in Central Appalachian counties in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee

Applications due January 15, 2020

From South Arts –

As part of our efforts to preserve and perpetuate the arts of Central Appalachia, the Folk and Traditional Arts Master Artist Fellowships offer support directly to the standard-bearers who call this region home.

Master artists have spent years honing their craft, apprenticing with community or family members, learning the history of their practice, and sharing their work. But we recognize that this pursuit for knowledge and collaboration is never complete. Through the Folk & Traditional Arts Master Artist Fellowships, we offer $9,000 to support these life-long learning opportunities.

Whether you are a traditional ballad singer seeking to explore Celtic manuscripts or a basketmaker interested in attending a national gathering, consider applying for a fellowship.
