Elise Kendrick, Interconnected, 2023, Burned insulation board print on paper, wood panel, 24 x 24 inches

"This is a piece created while at an artist residency at Arrowmont. Although I don’t know the individuals, I loved the intimacy and feeling of comfort and protection. After making it, I reprinted it on different paper to create a collage effect."
Elise Kendrick: Blended Expressions

January 31, 2025–March 28, 2025

Painter and printmaker Elise Kendrick grew up in Gahanna, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, where she was immersed in in a world of creativity from an early age. Her mother, a skilled quilter and storyteller, encouraged Kendrick to explore a variety of artistic mediums. As an introvert and avid reader, Kendrick found that art became a natural form of communication. For her, a successful piece should stand on its own, letting the work speak louder than the artist behind it. She has learned that taking the time to pause and organize her thoughts is essential; art allows her the luxury of thoughtful reflection, a time and space that verbal communication doesn’t always provide.
