Louis Colombarini received a B.A. in Art History from S.U.N.Y. at Geneseo where he also developed a serious interest in ceramics. After graduating, he went on to study in a four-year audit program in ceramics at Florida Atlantic University. His extensive studies have included wheel throwing, hand building, clay and glaze formulation, kiln building and a wide range of firing techniques.
In 1979, Colombarini made his home in middle Tennessee, with wife Christine, and built a studio and established his business Cosmic Clay. They have shown ceramics at over 600 juried art shows and gallery exhibitions and have received numerous awards and honors. In addition, He taught hands-on clay workshops, as well as business seminars, with an emphasis on self-employment as an artist. With a need for rural art and craft awareness in the rural community, Colombarini and his wife cofounded Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour, now in its 26th successful year. Driven by an endless passion to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for clay, he currently teaches all levels of wheel throwing in his home studio. He also offers a one-day clay experience to small groups who have never touched clay.
