Edwards studied at Utah State University and transferred to Tennessee Tech University in 2003 to study at the Appalachian Center for Craft, finishing with B.F.A. in ceramics. After graduating he managed the ceramics and sculpture studios at Vanderbilt University in Nashville where he received a Windgate Fellowship to travel to Jingdezhen, China as a resident artist in 2009. The following year he was awarded the Baden-Württemberg Stipend to intern with a studio potter in Mörsingen, Germany. Upon returning to the States, Edwards enrolled in the master’s program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Since then, he has continued to receive awards and fellowships such as the Centennial Fellowship, an Edgren Fellowship, a Peterson Fellowship, and a Hixson-Lied Fellowship and four Hixson-Lied Creative Presentation scholarships to exhibit his work in St. Petersberg, Russia, the Ceramic Top 40 | 2013 in Kansas City, MO as well as a 2013 Hixson-Lied Travel Grant as a Resident Artist at A.I.R. Vallauris, in Vallauris, France.

His work is in the permanent collections of the Tennessee State Museum, Ingram Studio Arts Center at Vanderbilt University, the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium in Nashville, the A.I.R. Vallauris in France, and the Sanbao International Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen China.
