People's History of Chattanooga Walking Tour

Chattanooga Organized for Action commissioned and installed a proof of concept for a narrative signage marker and accompanying artwork for the People’s History Walking Tour along the East 3rd Street Corridor. Local artists of color were commissioned to create a sculptural work and design a narrative marker to commemorate the legacy of C.B. Robinson, the first black Tennessee state legislator for Hamilton County and leader of the black teachers’ union (equalizing teachers’ pay among races). Based on the community interest for the project, the organization is pursuing historical markers and artworks for 10 new sites.
