Nashville’s Music for Seniors to present at International Conference and Leadership Exchange

Ukedelics in Brenwood2Music for Seniors Executive Director Sarah Martin McConnell and Program Director Matt Bridges were selected from hundreds of applicants world-wide to present at the 2016 National Center for Creative Aging’s International Conference and Leadership Exchange in Washington, D.C. in September, 2016.

Their presentation is titled, “Recreational Music Making: A Powerful Tool for Creating, Connecting, Caregiving.” McConnell will present an interactive music and singing session and Bridges will present an interactive rhythm session using hand-held percussion instruments from around the world. The presentation demonstrates the Music for Seniors interactive model of recreational music making.

“The team is honored to have been chosen and we are looking forward to this amazing opportunity, said McConnell. “It will give the unique work of Music for Seniors global exposure, hopefully inspiring others across the United States, maybe even around the world, to launch Music for Seniors live music programming for older adults in their communities.”

The TN Arts Commission would like to congratulate Music for Seniors on this honor and look forward to hearing more about their presentation.
