This project implemented a Community Paint By Numbers mural in the historic downtown district, designed and applied by a local artist and educator, Michelle O’Patick Ollis. This mural reaching 504sq feet showcases local agriculture, fauna, and flora with bright bold colors that catches the eyes of visitors and residents daily. This mural took 59 hours to complete, included 37 children to paint, and reached over 200 students in the city school system with coloring pages of the mural and education on the elements featured.
The mural was sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission’s FY23 Creative Placemaking grant and was managed by Connect Downtown Johnson City.
