The Johnson County Center for the Arts commissioned the Heritage Square Mural that transformed a block building in Mountain City into a backdrop for Heritage Square, celebrating the region’s musical legacy. The project reinforced the area’s cultural history and expanded the downtown’s Mural Mile, fostering place-based pride. Artist Cristy Dunn created the mural.
The mural was sponsored by the Tennessee Arts Commission’s FY21 Creative Placemaking grant and was managed by Johnson County Center for the Arts.
