Stewart County Community Cultural Center

Stewart County utilized their Creative Placemaking grant to purchase lighting equipment, sound barriers, visual and audio equipment to transform the elementary school auditorium/gym into a community cultural center presenting arts programming. This project responded not only to an articulated community desire for a greater supply of cultural programming, but also to feedback from local educators, students, cultural groups, and patrons about how the school facility can better serve its community.

A brick building with large windows and a sign in front reading Camelot Theater. There are flowers and a small statue in the garden bed along the building’s exterior.

Four wooden theater-style chairs are arranged on a red rug against a gray cinder block wall. A vintage lamp stands on a small wooden side table, and framed artwork decorates the wall above the chairs.

A painted mural on a gray brick wall displays the word Camelot in large, medieval-style black letters, with a wooden cabinet and a decorative helmet placed beneath it. A red curtain runs along the top of the wall.
