Cross Connections
City of Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts developed an alley running through 4 city blocks as a public walkway connecting the newly opened Inventor Center crossing Broad Street and ending at a large community mural. The alley served as alternative egress for business fronting Main Street while the street was rebuilt. The project brought together business owners and artists to create eight murals in the alley that celebrate Kingsport. In addition, the City lit the alleyway to create a more welcoming environment for pedestrian and commercial along the alley.
