Gateway to Natchez Trace

The City of Collinwood developed a vacant lot into a community garden that reflects the community’s natural assets and history and includes seating, a pergola, and a mural created by local artists and artisans. The City sought to capitalize on the proximity to the Natchez Trace Parkway, and complement the display of local art and artifacts at the Wayne County Welcome Center. The 25’ x 100’ garden now serve as a gathering place for the community, artists, farmers, tourists, filmmakers and musicians.

A wooden pergola stands on a concrete slab in a mostly empty outdoor area with dry grass, near a picnic table. A cinder-block wall and brick buildings are visible in the background under a cloudy sky.
