Spokes: Public Art in Cookeville

Art Round Tennessee assembled and installed the public art piece, “Spokes,” created by artist Brad Sells. The sculpture is a 36’ wide, 14’ tall arch of bicycles and was installed as an entryway spanning the street-side entrance to Putnam County’s new Tennessee Central Heritage Rail Trail on the west side of downtown Cookeville. The project complemented ongoing, long-term revitalization that began with the renovation of the deteriorating Tennessee Central train depot.

A large metal arch made of numerous bicycles is displayed at the entrance to a parking area, surrounded by traffic cones. A train and train cars are visible on tracks in the background under a clear blue sky.

A large metal arch decorated with various bicycles stands over a street intersection in front of brick buildings and shops. Orange traffic cones line the road beneath the arch. The sky is clear and blue.
