Gopal (K.Gopal Murti) worked as a scientist in St Jude Children’s Research Hospital for 33 years and retired in 2008. As a scientist, he produced many scientific images which were featured in medical / biology text books and won many National and International competitions. In 2008, Gopal started to learn watercolor painting and emerged onto the Memphis artist scene in 2011. He served as the President of Memphis-Grmantown Art League (MGAL) from 2012 to 2014 and earned the League’s highest honor, the Spectrum award, for creative enthusiasm. He was selected in many juried art shows, received many awards (including the best of show award in the 2017 MGAL Spring show) and organized many solo shows (including an exhibition at the Tennessee Arts Commission ). Gopal is fascinated by the beauty of everything around him and his paintings reflect his esoteric taste. He eventually wants to combine Western and Eastern art to come up with exceptional paintings.
