Frayser Matters

Playback Memphis hosted Frayser Matters, a series of events that united police officers, individuals with criminal backgrounds, children, educators, pastors and performance artists through the Playback theatrical method.  Events included interviews, performance, a street festival, and youth art installation. Partners included Lifeline to Success, Memphis Police Department, Frayser Achievement & Corning Elementary Schools, and Frayser Exchange Club.

A person stands outdoors holding two handmade signs that read PATIENCE and LOVE & KINDNESS at a community event, with trees, bunting, and other people visible in the background.

A group of students and adults stand indoors holding a banner that reads, “We are a Be the Peace school. Believe there is peace in Frayser, in partnership with Playback Memphis.” Everyone is smiling at the camera.

A group of performers in black shirts stand and gesture expressively in front of an audience in a room with yellow walls. A person in the background plays a drum while seated. Audience members watch from chairs.
