Krishna Adams

Director of Visual Arts, Craft, Media, and Design

In December 2014, Krishna Adams joined the Tennessee Arts Commission as the Director of Visual Arts, Craft, Media, and Design. In this role, she actively administers a variety of grants to nonprofit organizations and visual artists across the state. Additionally, Adams curates diverse and challenging exhibitions in the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery that features professional and talented artists living and working within the three grand divisions of the state.

Prior to the Commission, she spent 17 years at the Knoxville Museum of Art in multiple roles cultivating relationships with artists, educators and museum professionals on a local, regional and national level. She brings professional curatorial, programming and development knowledge to the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Adams earned a Masters in Information Science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. Her extensive experience in the visual arts ensures that the Commission will continue to produce engaging and relevant exhibitions in its gallery as well as provide broad-based grant support for a wide variety of visual arts, craft, media and design organizations and artists in Tennessee.
