TN Arts Commission Position Opening: Arts Access Director

Position Description

The Tennessee Arts Commission seeks a full-time Program Director for Arts Access. Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Operations, this position manages a statewide program to cultivate accessibility, participation and inclusion in the arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities. Specifically, the position manages grants, programming, and special projects associated with Arts Access and non-discrimination compliance. Responsibilities

  1. Assists in the development and administration of state and federal grants to arts organizations, non-arts organizations and individuals, with primary focus on increasing accessibility and participation in the arts among underserved groups
  2. Serves as agency liaison for Title VI and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
  3. Serves as a resource and provides technical assistance to organizations, artists, communities and Tennessee Arts Commission staff related to developing arts programs and projects to increase access and participation
  4. Generates public support for the arts
  5. Represents the Commission at local, state, regional, and national meetings
  6. Acts creatively as part of the Commission team to identify and implement strategies to cultivate the arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience in arts administration and/or nonprofit management
  • Understands state and national arts policy and trends
  • Familiarity with federal civil rights and disability requirements
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and collaborative initiatives and carry projects through to successful completion
  • Grants management and budget experience desired
  • Experience developing and managing productive partnerships with outside organizations and networks
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Licensed to operate a motor vehicle and available for travel
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize office equipment and computer software including Microsoft Office

Salary based on experience. First step of range: $38,076
Works in non-smoking state office in downtown Nashville
