Gift Vouchers Now Available to Buy 
Tennessee Speciality License Plates

The New GIFT-A-TAG voucher program allows Tennesseans to give the gift of a Specialty License Plate

Tennessee Specialty License Plates—which support over 100 different organizations and charities—are now available as gifts through a new website hosted by the State DepartmentTreasury office: Tennessee Gift Center (tngiftcenter.com).

The GIFT-A-TAG Gift Voucher Program is the first offering on the Tennessee Gift Center website and it can be accessed directly by going to tngiftcenter.com/giftatag. Each GIFT-A-TAG is good for the purchase of a Specialty Plate or the personalization of any license plate. GIFT-A-TAG vouchers are $35 and you can buy as many as you want for your family and friends.

Since the legislation passed last year for the GIFT-A-TAG program, the Tennessee State Treasurer’s office took on the task of creating an online system where Tennesseans can give relatives and friends the gift of a Specialty License Plate or the personalization of a Tennessee License Plate. The GIFT-A-TAG vouchers can also be used to renew Specialty License Plates.

“I am proud of Treasury staff for all of their work in making the GIFT-A-TAG program vouchers available for purchase and for developing the new website that will support it,” said Treasurer David H. Lillard, Jr. “We have worked with the local county clerks and other key players to make this a reality.”

The GIFT-A-TAG program was unveiled during a press conference held at Legislative Plaza Wednesday, March 4. Treasurer Lillard, along with Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris and Senator Doug Overbey, who is chair of the Arts Caucus, made a few remarks about the new program.

“This has been my goal over the last five years, to develop the license plate gift voucher program,” said Senator Majority Leader Mark Norris. “I am delighted to say it is now possible.”

Along with Anne Pope, Executive Director, Tennessee Arts Commission and Patsy Camp, Chair, Tennessee Arts Commission, were members of the legislature, including Speaker Beth Harwell, Senator Becky Massey, Senator Jeff Yarbro, Senator Rusty Crowe, and Representative Curtis Halford—all are members of the Arts Caucus (see attached list).

The GIFT-A-TAG program will be promoted by the Tennessee Arts Commission, the state’s arts agency. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Specialty License Plates fund local arts programming for children and communities distributed through the Commission.
