Come Convene with Us

By Suzanne Lynch, Director of Marketing and Development —

Collective ImpactUnbelievably, the Collective Impact conference is just over a month away. Beginning on Tuesday, June 7, the conference will be not only a time to share best practices and learn new skills, but also a time for us to come together to demonstrate our support for the arts in Tennessee. The conference will provide a platform for us as a group to hear what issues matter in our communities and how the arts are a part of making a difference. Collectively understanding and supporting efforts strengthens one’s individual role to move communities forward. We hope that you will take this opportunity to convene with us.

As we continue to plan, we have some new details to share.

Dr. Kathleen Airhart, Deputy Commissioner/Chief Operating Officer at the TN Department of Education will be speaking at lunch Wednesday, June 8. Along with regularly scheduled conference sessions, there will be an all-day Teaching Artist Workshop and an all-day TN Arts Education Policy Convening. You can register to attend either as part of the conference or as a singular event.

During the conference, we will hear from Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland at our welcome dinner Tuesday, June 7. Invitations have been extended to Senator Jim Tracy and Senator Bill Ketron, both long time arts supporters. Additionally, Tennesseans for the Arts will be on hand to discuss advocacy for the arts in Tennessee.

If you haven’t registered, reserved your hotel or dorm room, and sent in your dorm checks if applicable—we urge you to do so very soon. It will help us with our final planning as well as guarantee your lodging. Room holds will be released May 25.

There are still Special Opportunities Grants available to support conference fees and travel. Funds can be used by organizations or individuals. The grant guidelines walk you through the process, which is quick and easy.

We invite you to be a part of our conference’s Facebook event page and also the Summer Arts Jam’s Facebook event page. Please share with your Facebook friends.
