Arts Education Bill continues to Succeed in Congress

Americans for the Arts (AFTA) continues to provide updates on the the progress of the new federal K-12 education act, Every Student Succeeds Act.

Nina Ozula Tunceli, the AFTA Arts Action Fund Executive Director reported:

“The U.S. House of Representatives passed, by an overwhelming margin of 359-64, the new federal K-12 education act entitled Every Student Succeeds ActIt now speeds its way to the Senate and the President’s desk for signing.every student succeeds act image real

Americans for the Arts has posted a blog that details the impact on arts education of this major overhaul of the federal government’s role in elementary and secondary education.

The bottom line: The federal government’s role has been substantially reduced and a new menu of opportunities, including several for arts and music education, has been created for states and local school districts. This means arts education advocacy at the state and local levels will become even more important in the future. Look for upcoming training workshops on this topic.”
