PBS NewsHour Features Tennessee’s Music for Seniors

PBS NewsHour national news program with Judy Woodruff, anchor, (as seen on Nashville Public Television, NPT) featured the Nashville-based nonprofit, Music for Seniors on the evening of Monday, November 4 in its Arts & Culture series, Canvas. PBS correspondent, John Yang reported on how the organization connects the city’s musicians and older residents in an effort to build community and improve the quality of life for all of us. The report noted that the organization is now teaming up with researchers at Vanderbilt University to study its Outreach programs for possible evidence-based outcomes—research that could potentially be leveraged to help individuals with Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Featured in the segment are Music for Seniors’ executive director, Sarah Martin McConnell, and program director, Matt Bridges along with musicians Kyshona Armstrong and Todd Elgin.
