Arts Education Special Projects Coordinator
Meredith Callis joined the Tennessee Arts Commission in October 2017. She has worked in Arts Education for six years, teaching under various education grants and developing arts integration resources for students across Hamilton County. While in Chattanooga, Meredith also worked as an Educator under Usher Raymond’s Nancy Lakey Community Education Fund, which provides art lessons and supplies to Hamilton County public schools. She specializes in collaborating with public school faculties to implement effective arts integration and sustainable creative programs within the classrooms.
Previously Meredith worked at the Children’s Art Centre in Boston, MA, America’s first and oldest public fine arts museum designed exclusively for children. There, she designed arts lessons along with guided trips and museum experiences for the students of the Boston’s historic United South End Settlements. Meredith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development with an emphasis in Art Education from the University of Tennessee. She is also a 2016 graduate of the Holmberg Institute, a program designed by ArtsBuild in Chattanooga to develop emerging arts leaders as arts advocates.
